Small Claims Court

The Small Claims Court is a court system designed to deal specifically with civil disputes having a monetary value of $25,000.00 or less (excluding interest and costs).  A claim can be made for monies owed or the return of personal property, but the value must be under $25,000.00.  A claim valued at more than $25,000.00 can still made in the Small Claims Court, however, the claimant would have to waive any amount exceeding the $25,000.00 limit.  The following are some examples of the types of claims filed:

  • Unpaid accounts for goods or services sold and rendered
  • Unpaid loans
  • Breach of Contract
  • Torts
  • Construction Renovations
  • Damage or theft of personal property
